Well a big hello out there to all you cyberspace fans, :0)
Only 2 WEEKS to go didya get that 2 WEEKS today so this time on the saturday night i will be on a plane and been in the air for an hour, with only 13 more hours till we get to our stopover in Dubai.
Anyhow at the start of the week the new school term resumed and all was going good, then on the Tuesday, Fiona got a call from our son Nathan at lunchtime from school, telling her that he had hurt his leg and it was hard to move as it was #caining him# (as he put it ) LOL
Anyways, Fiona asked him what had happened and he told her that in P.E. they were doing backflips off a small type trampoline and someone had moved the mat, so when he came down he had hit his knee on the floor and the teacher had just said to him to move the mat so no-one else would do the same thing. Never checked him or sent him off to the sick bay (whatever happened to Duty of care )mmm Not happy Jan !!!!
Well Fiona told Nathan to go to the sick bay and see the nurse before it started to swell, when he replied it already is, so with thathe went off to the sick bay. A little while later the nurse from the sick bay rang and asked us which Dr did we use as his knee was REALLY SWELLED UP and didnt look that crash hot and he could hardly walk, and thought that he may have popped his kneecap out. (Fionas thinking - great thats all we need 3 weeks out from the trip )
Well the nurse took Nathan to the Drs, and Fiona left work early to come home and make sure he was alright,by the time she got back into town she went straight to the Drs in case they were still there ( which they were - they were just coming out )so she met up with them and Nathan got into the car so he could be taken home. The Nurse had said that when they first got there even the other nurses and the Dr thought (by looking at the size of the swelling ) that yes he had Popped his Kneecap out, so organised an X-ray to check it, as it worked out he hadnt popped it out but had Badly bruised it and the swelling was due to the internal bleeding, so they Pressure Bandaged the area around his knee and put a sort of elastic type stocking on over the top of it to stop it from swelling any further ( shit i reckon the horse has already bolted, when i saw it that night ) and gave him the next day off school. So when i got home from work he was moving around the house on the crutches that i had, from when i broke my ankle some 4 years ago, and when i asked him how his knee was - well its just cainin me dad dont touch it.
Wednesday when i got home from work i looked at his kneeand it was still up like the goodyear blimp so i told him, i didnt think he should go to school on the thursday as well ( and i wasnt hearing any complaints - not that i was expecting any LOL )and we would take another look on the thursday night, Fiona rang the school on the Thursday and spoke to the year co-ordinator and told her that he wouldnt be in again that day, and Fiona told her what had taken place on the Tuesday (as she didnt know anything about it ) and that we were not happy. ( Isnt communication just wonderful at that school )
Thursday night i again checked his knee - still swollen and very hard to walk (by now hes down to 1 crutch) so i said he may as well stay home again on the friday and rest it more and Fiona was going to take him back to the Drs and get someone else to have a look at it.
Fri - Fiona took him in to see another Dr, ( had to wait 1 and 1/2 hours)Got checked and he said yes its badly bruised and theres alot of fluid in there and when he landed on his knee, he had probably done some damage but couldnt be sure until the swelling went down competely and the kneecap was probably rubbing on the joint, but he would be right to fly when we leave. ( Oh relief :0) )
Friday night the pressure bandage came off and he has a descent size bruise on the knee, with more bruising coming out on the Saturday, and probably more to come. And i never even got a piccy of it to post :0(
oh well.
Alls well in the end, Hey did i mention we only got 2 WEEKS till we go Yeeeha
